Doha, April 26 (QNA) - Qatar University (QU) announced, during a press conference today, its final preparations to organizing the graduation ceremony for its 49th cohort, Class of 2026 students, marking a significant national milestone that highlights the university's achievements in preparing and qualifying Qatari talents across various disciplines and vital fields.
Addressing the press conference, QU's Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Diab highlighted the University's readiness to organizing the graduation ceremony of its 49th cohort. He said, "The total number of graduates is 4,024, including 902 male graduates and 3,122 female graduates. This occasion is one we take great pride in, as it represents a national milestone that reflects the University's role in preparing qualified graduates capable of contributing to national development and serving the community."
Dr. Mohammad Diab affirmed that this cohort includes a distinguished group of students who successfully completed their graduation requirements across various academic disciplines, earning degrees ranging from undergraduate to postgraduate levels. This reflects the diversity and quality of the University's academic programs, as well as its responsiveness to labor market needs.
He added, "We are also pleased this year to announce a significant milestone: the graduation of the first cohort of students from the College of Nursing. This achievement reflects the University's commitment to supporting the healthcare sector in the country and supplying the labor market with qualified national talent in one of the most vital fields within the healthcare system."
He noted that the organizing committee for QU's graduation ceremony began preparations early, through various committees and organizational and logistical teams that worked diligently over recent months.
The graduation website was also launched recently, providing all relevant information about the ceremony and the schedules for college-level ceremonies. Additionally, graduation gowns will be distributed to female graduates starting today and continuing for a full week. Invitation cards for the college ceremonies will be distributed starting Tuesday, while attendance cards for the two main ceremonies will be distributed following the rehearsal.
QU's Vice President for Student Affairs also confirmed that comprehensive rehearsals will also be held next Saturday, 2 May, to ensure the event is conducted with the highest levels of precision
and smooth coordination. Dr. Diab noted that these rehearsals provide an important opportunity to familiarize graduates with all procedures and ensure they are fully aware of the ceremony details.
He said, "The organizing committees are also working to prepare all aspects of the event by providing clear guidance to graduates. This includes adherence to general regulations, attendance procedures, coordination with their families, as well as familiarizing them with the sequence of the ceremony, the recognition process, and the group photo arrangements according to the approved protocol."
He added that, as part of its strategic vision, the Student Affairs Sector continues its efforts to enrich the student experience through impactful cultural, academic, and community-based activities that contribute to shaping students' personalities and enhancing their readiness for professional life. It also supports talented and outstanding students through specialized initiatives and development programs aimed at strengthening both their academic and personal skills.
At the conclusion of the press conference, Dr. Mohammad Diab confirmed that through its graduates, QU continues to contribute to national development by preparing skilled professionals ready to support key sectors. This reflects a sustained commitment to developing talent that is equipped to meet evolving demands and contribute effectively to society. (QNA)
