183 Palestinians Evacuated from Gaza via Rafah Crossing for Treatment Abroad
Gaza, April 26 (QNA) - One hundred and eighty-three Palestinians, including patients and their chaperones, left the Gaza Strip on Sunday through the Rafah border crossing as part of a medical evacuation to receive treatment and healthcare outside the Strip.
In a press release, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said that the operation included 57 patients and 81 chaperones, totaling 183 people, as part of coordinated efforts led by the World Health Organization.
The Society explained that its teams transported the patients and their chaperone by ambulance from its Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis to the Rafah crossing, in preparation for their travel abroad for treatment.
It emphasized that its participation in this operation stems from its humanitarian role, especially given the deteriorating health conditions and the immense pressure on the medical system in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli authorities had partially reopened the Rafah crossing in early Feb. 2026, allowing the exit of patients and the wounded, and the return of some Palestinians, subject to Israeli security conditions and procedures. This was part of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect in Oct. 2025. (QNA)
