4 Passengers Injured After Fire Breaks Out on Swiss Plane at Indira Gandhi International Airport in India
New Delhi, April 26 (QNA) - A fire broke out on a Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) plane as it was preparing to take off from Indira Gandhi International Airport, prompting an emergency declaration and the evacuation of passengers, according to Indian authorities.
Reports said that the incident occurred late Saturday night when smoke was seen coming from the left wheel of the plane operating the flight from Delhi to Zurich, which led to the immediate cancellation of the takeoff process.
Sources reported that four passengers out of the 232 people on board the plane sustained minor injuries during the evacuation via the emergency slides, and the injured were taken to receive treatment, while all passengers were evacuated safely.
Delhi airport affirmed in a statement that a full state of emergency was declared immediately upon detection of the incident, and all approved safety protocols were implemented, noting that airport operations were not affected.
This incident comes after a previous incident on March 28, when an IndiGo plane was forced to make an emergency landing at the same airport, due to a possible technical malfunction in the engine, without any injuries being reported. (QNA)
