Lebanon Conditions Any Agreement on Full Withdrawal of Israeli Occupation Forces from Its Territory
Beirut, April 23 (QNA) - Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said on Thursday that Lebanon cannot sign any agreement that does not include a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory.
In remarks, Salam urged the administration of US President Donald Trump to pressure Israel to reduce its demands and end its incursion into Lebanon, adding that they cannot coexist with what is called a buffer zone where displaced residents are not allowed to return to their towns and villages.
He also appealed to Washington and Paris to help expand and strengthen the capabilities of the Lebanese Army, which he said requires equipment and training, noting that restricting weapons to the army is a process that cannot happen overnight.
Last week, President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon for a period of ten days. (QNA)
