Turkiye's FM: No Desire to Resume US-Iran War After Ceasefire Deadline Ends
Ankara, April 19 (QNA) - Turkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that no party seeks a resumption of the US-Israeli war against Iran following expiry of the ceasefire period next week.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Fidan noted that the scope of issues under discussion is substantial and may necessitate extending the ceasefire once again, adding that continued reliance on external assistance would only prolong the region's challenges.
He affirmed that Turkiye is working to end conflicts in the region and advance economic progress, stressing that it is vital for regional countries to come together and assume responsibility for addressing their own challenges.
On the Palestinian issue, Turkish Foreign Minister said that it is widely understood that the Israeli occupation's underlying intent, namely a policy aimed at depopulating the Gaza Strip has not changed, adding that the reality of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, in various forms, remains evident.
He added that while this intent is broadly recognized, it is rarely stated openly, noting that Israeli expansionism is no longer solely a regional security concern but has evolved into a global security issue. (QNA)
