Cairo, April 18 (QNA) - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun discussed regional updates and bilateral ties over the phone, Saturday.

The Egyptian President welcomed the ceasefire in Lebanon and praised the Lebanese government's efforts in extending its authority across the country's territory, according to Egypt's Presidency.

He also commended efforts aimed at restoring security and stability and sustaining the ceasefire.

President El Sisi highlighted his country's efforts in supporting Lebanon and insulating it from current regional tensions and crises.

Egypt fully condemns any attack on Lebanon's security, sovereignty, and its people's resources, stressed the Egyptian President.

For his part, the Lebanese President went over the progress made in the US-brokered direct negotiations.

President General Aoun stressed the Lebanese government's position of adhering to reaching a just and sustainable peaceful settlement that preserves Lebanon's sovereignty, the security of its people, and its territorial integrity. (QNA)
