Doha, April 18 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has condemned the attack that targeted a patrol of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in southern Lebanon, which resulted in the death of a French soldier and injuries to several others. Qatar considered the attack a serious violation of international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

In a statement today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar's complete rejection of any attack targeting UNIFIL, which plays a vital role in maintaining security and stability in the sisterly Republic of Lebanon. The Ministry stressed the need for an immediate investigation into the attack and for those responsible to be brought to justice.

The Ministry expressed Qatar's condolences to the family of the soldier and to the government and people of the French Republic, as well as its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured. (QNA)
