One French UNIFIL Soldier Killed, Three Others Wounded in Attack in Southern Lebanon
Beirut, April 18 (QNA) - One French soldier was killed and three others were injured in an attack targeting the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) on Saturday while carrying out its duties in southern Lebanon.
"This morning, a UNIFIL patrol clearing explosive ordnance along a road in the village of Ghanduriyah to re-establish links with isolated UNIFIL positions came under small-arms fire from non-state-actors," said the peacekeeping force in a statement.
UNIFIL announced that one peacekeeper succumbed to his wounds, while three others were injured, two of them in critical condition.
The UN peacekeepers condemned this "deliberate" attack, adding that an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances of the incident. (QNA)
