Beirut, April 10 (QNA) - Lebanese Health Minister Rakan Nasser El Din said Friday that Qatar's swift support for his country in the face of the repercussions of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon reflects genuine brotherly solidarity in the face of the current circumstances.

Speaking to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), Nasser El Din highlighted that Qatar's response to the urgent Lebanese appeal for relief aid was rapid, both through direct communication and by sending an aid plane carrying more than 100 tons of medical supplies.

These supplies include essential medicines, first aid materials, and emergency medical kits, according to the needs identified by the Ministry of Health.

He noted that the Ministry will immediately begin distributing this aid to public and private hospitals, based on priorities and field needs.

"This support from the State of Qatar comes in the wake of the aggression that targeted Beirut and various Lebanese regions on April 8, resulting in a large number of casualties," he said noting the response of Lebanese hospitals and ambulance teams to the emergency cases, but the scale of the needs remained significant, necessitating an urgent appeal for aid.

He also stated that the health sector in Lebanon faces major challenges as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression, but it continues to perform its duties with unwavering resolve.

The Minister said that medical and nursing staff and ambulance teams continue providing care to the victims of the aggression, despite all the pressures they face and the strain on the country's health institutions.

Nasser El Din concluded his remarks to QNA by affirming the Ministry of Health's commitment to fulfilling its duties within the available resources and its full commitment to its national and humanitarian responsibility during this critical period the country is facing due to the ongoing Israeli aggression since March 2.
