Doha, March 05 (QNA) - HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani participated Thursday in the emergency Gulf-European ministerial virtual meeting of Their Highnesses and Excellencies, Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and the Foreign Ministers of the European Union (EU) states, along with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.

Discussions during the meeting, focused on the repercussions of the blatant Iranian attacks on GCC states as well as the dangerous developments in the region and their negative impact on the entire world.

During the meeting, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated the State of Qatar's strong condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting Qatari territory. He also reiterated Qatar's condemnation of Iranian attacks on GCC countries and other brotherly nations, affirming Qatar's full solidarity with these brotherly countries in all measures they take to preserve their sovereignty, security, and stability.

His Excellency emphasized that the Iranian aggression against Qatari territory constitutes a flagrant violation of its national sovereignty, is inconsistent with the principles of good neighborliness, and cannot be accepted under any justification or pretext. He noted that the State of Qatar has always been keen to distance itself from regional conflicts and has sought to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the international community. However, the renewed targeting of its territory does not reflect good faith and threatens the foundation of understanding upon which bilateral relations between the two countries are built.

His Excellency stressed the necessity of an immediate cessation of all escalatory actions, a return to the negotiating table, prioritizing reason and wisdom, and working to contain the crisis in a manner that preserves the security of the region. (QNA)
