Al Arabi, Al Rayyan Advance to Final of Basketball League

Doha, March 28 (QNA) - Al Arabi and Al Rayyan have qualified for the final of the 45th edition of the Qatari Men's Basketball League for the 2025–2026 season, after successfully securing victories in their playoff semifinal series on Saturday.

In a strong clash during the second round of the semifinal series, Al Arabi maintained its impressive form and repeated its triumph over Al Sadd with a narrow 76–74 win. The game was filled with excitement, intensity, and momentum swings until the final seconds, with Al Arabi ultimately earning a well-deserved spot in the final.

The match began with Al Sadd imposing its dominance in the first quarter, finishing ahead 22–16 thanks to solid defensive organization and effective offensive execution. However, Al Arabi responded powerfully in the second quarter, overturning the contest with a remarkable 28–10 run, fueled by high defensive pressure and swift offensive transitions.

In the third quarter, Al Sadd regained balance and fought back with a 25–13 advantage, reducing the gap and intensifying the competition. Yet Al Arabi showed resilience and composure in the decisive moments, sealing the fourth quarter 19–17 and holding on to victory by just two points at the buzzer.

Individually, Al Sadd's Mustafa Fouda stood out as the game's top scorer with 30 points. Meanwhile, Elmedin Kikanović delivered a crucial performance for Al Arabi, scoring 20 points and proving instrumental in the decisive stages.

In the other semifinal, Al Rayyan completed the lineup for the final after defeating Al Ahli 93–88.

The contest was closely fought, with Al Rayyan edging the first quarter 20–19, while the second quarter ended in a 22–22 tie. Al Rayyan maintained its edge in the third quarter, winning 25–22, and sealed the fourth quarter 26–22 in a thrilling finish to secure its place in the final.

Rolands Freimanis of Al Rayyan was the game's top scorer with 41 points. Al Ahli's Mohamed Hashem Zidan also impressed, leading his team with 25 points despite the loss. (QNA)
