Kuwait Foreign Ministry Summons Iran's Envoy for Third Time Over Attacks
Kuwait, March 25 (QNA) - Kuwait's Foreign Ministry on Wednesday summoned Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Tutunji for the third time since the onset of the Iranian standoff offensive and handed him a protest memorandum over the unrelenting attacks against Kuwait.
The move comes in the wake of the assault on fuel tankers at Kuwait International Airport today, which runs afoul of international humanitarian law as long as the airport is considered a civilian object, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The statement reiterated that Kuwait strongly deplores this aggression as a flagrant violation of its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and airspace, in an unequivocal contravention of international law and the UN Charter.
It further stressed that this offensive runs contrary to the ethos of good neighborliness and poses a perilous escalation that endangers regional and global peace and security.
The Ministry reemphasized the criticality of halting these attacks immediately, confirming that Iran should face up to its full responsibility for the consequences of this aggression.
It further noted that Kuwait is fully entitled to the right of self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter. (QNA)
