Drone Crashes Near Oil Field in Southern Iraq
Baghdad, March 25 (QNA) - An unidentified drone crashed near an oil field east of Maysan province in southern Iraq, an Iraqi security source reported Wednesday.
The source explained that the drone crashed in an open area near the Chinese oil company PetroChina in the Al-Kahla district of Maysan province, without causing any casualties.
He indicated that Iraqi security forces cordoned off the area where the drone crashed, and it remains unclear whether it was a reconnaissance or explosive-laden drone.
Earlier Wednesday, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense announced that seven soldiers were killed, and 13 others were wounded in an airstrike that targeted a clinic at the Habbaniyah military base in Anbar province.
The ministry said in an official statement that the air strike targeted the Habbaniyah military clinic and the Habbaniyah works department belonging to the site's command, followed by a burst from the aircraft's cannon, resulting in the death of 7 soldiers and injuries to 13 others, with varying wounds, while they were performing their national and humanitarian duty.
