Egypt Affirms Commitment to Diplomatic Efforts to Stop War in the Region, Promote Dialogue
Cairo, March 25 (QNA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelaaty affirmed Wednesday that his country is dedicating its diplomatic efforts to stopping the ongoing war in the region, stressing Egypt's firm commitment to pursuing the diplomatic track and prioritizing dialogue.
In a press statement, Abdelaaty emphasized his country's unwavering stance of absolute solidarity with its brothers in the Gulf states, Jordan, and Iraq in confronting unjustified Iranian aggression, and its categorical rejection of any infringement upon the security and sovereignty of Arab states.
He affirmed Egypt's commitment to providing all forms of support in this regard, stressing that the security of the Gulf is an integral part of Egyptian national security.
Regarding the Palestinian issue, the Egyptian Foreign Minister condemned Israeli annexation and settlement policies in the West Bank, noting the intensive efforts underway with regional and international parties to implement the second phase of US President Donald Trump's plan, which includes fulfilling all its requirements, foremost among them the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza according to specific timetables.
Abdelaati also reiterated his condemnation of Israeli incursions into southern Lebanon, stressing the need for the full and impartial implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
He affirmed Egypt's support for resolutions that restrict weapons to the state and extend its sovereignty over all its territories, noting that Egypt has sent over 1,000 tons of aid to address the refugee crisis.
Regarding the crisis in Sudan, the Egyptian Foreign Minister reviewed the intensive efforts undertaken by his country within the framework of the Quartet, and in coordination with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the US in recent days, to push for an immediate humanitarian truce that would pave the way for a comprehensive ceasefire and open the door to a comprehensive political settlement of the crisis.
