Cairo, March 18 (QNA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf, affirmed the need to put an end to the ongoing war in the region, during their phone call Wednesday.

In a statement, Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that both sides discussed the rapidly evolving regional developments and the serious military escalation taking place in the Middle East, as well as touching on future regional arrangements to ensure security and stability.

During the call, Abdelatty went over Egypt's current intensive interactions and efforts that aim to contain the situation and preventing the region from sliding into widespread chaos, including his recent Gulf tour.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of prioritizing diplomacy and the immediate cessation of all forms of military escalation, which threaten regional peace and security.

Regarding joint cooperation, the Egyptian and Algerian Foreign Ministers emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties in all fields, agreeing to continue bilateral coordination and regular consultations on the successive challenges facing the region, and to keep working together to advance bilateral cooperation.
