Iraqi, Portuguese Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Developments
Baghdad, March 14 (QNA) - Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and his Portuguese counterpart Paulo Rangel discussed in a phone call the serious developments in the Middle East region and avenues to reduce escalation and promote de-escalation.
In a statement, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said that Hussein warned that the continuation of the war in the region could pose a direct threat to Iraqi oil exports, which would negatively impact energy markets and the global economy.
For his part, the Portuguese Minister stressed that the ongoing war represents a threat with multiple dimensions, particularly after it has expanded to other countries in the region, noting that the Portuguese government will work, within the framework of the European Union, and possibly in coordination with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, to push for a ceasefire and a return to negotiations.
