Kuwait City, March 11 (QNA) - The Kuwaiti National Guard announced on Wednesday that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit personnel, operating under the Engineering Battalion, successfully extracted parts of a warhead from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and safely vaporized it utilizing approved technical procedures after it had slammed into a fuel tank.

Upon receiving a report of the incident, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit responded to the location and conducted a technical inspection, said Official Spokesperson for the Kuwait National Guard, Brig. Gen. Dr. Jadaan Fadhel.

He noted that the warhead fell inside the tank without detonating, which posed a technical challenge due to the nature of the site and its containing petroleum products and chemical vapors.

The disposal operation lasted seven consecutive days, during which the tank was entirely emptied and all essential technical measures had been taken to ensure the safety of the team, Fadhel pointed out, explaining that the success of this operation underscores how the Engineering Battalion of the National Guard is on swivel in handling complex and hazardous reports, as part of coordinated collaboration with the relevant military and security authorities in Kuwait aimed at protecting lives and property and enhancing security and safety.

On another front, Kuwait expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the criminal Iranian aggression that targeted the Port of Salalah in the Sultanate of Oman and the resulting damage to some fuel storage tanks at the port.

In a statement, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that targeting ports and economic facilities constitutes a serious escalation that threatens the flow of international trade, the safety of critical infrastructure, and undermines efforts to strengthen security and stability in the region.

It expressed Kuwait's solidarity with Oman and reaffirmed its backing for all measures aimed at safeguarding its security, protecting its critical facilities, and protecting its stability. (QNA)
