Egypt's FM Discusses Regional De-Escalation with Joran, Bahrain, and Iran Counterparats
Cairo, March 11 (QNA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held phone calls on Wednesday with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The calls discussed ways to de-escalate the situation and promote calm in the region.
Abdelatty stressed the need for concerted regional and international efforts to reduce escalation, prioritize political solutions, and resort to dialogue and diplomacy to contain the escalating situation, warning of the danger of expanding the scope of military operations, which poses serious challenges to the security and stability of the entire region.
He also reiterated the need to push for de-escalation, diplomacy and dialogue to prevent the region from sliding into wider confrontations. He stressed his condemnation of attacks on the security and sovereignty of fraternal and friendly countries, affirming that there is no justification or excuse for these attacks.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister warned of the catastrophic and dangerous repercussions of the continued cycle of violence and the widening scope of the conflict, which threatens regional and international peace and security. He emphasized the importance of intensifying regional and international coordination to maintain the stability of the region and protect the security of international navigation.
In his call with the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abdelatty stressed the seriousness of the situation in the region and the importance of halting the expansion of the conflict, particularly with neighboring countries. He reiterated Egypt's complete condemnation and rejection of all Iranian aggression against the GCC states, Jordan, Iraq, as well as Turkiye and Azerbaijan. (QNA)
