Doha, February 07 (QNA) - HE President of Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation (QTSPBF), Nasser bin Ghanim Al Khelaifi, has affirmed that the 2026 Qatar TotalEnergies Open for the WTA 1000 women's tennis tournament is one of the most consequential international championships among professional female players that Qatar hosts for the 24th time.

On the eve of the main draw matches of the tournament on Sunday, Al Khelaifi stated to the local media that the Qatar TotalEnergies Open has successfully cemented its position as one of the foremost stops on the global tennis calendar, buoyed by its ability to attract each year the world's elite women tennis players.
He welcomed all participating athletes, saying that it gives him great pleasure, on his own behalf and on behalf of the Supreme Organizing Committee, to welcome them to this tournament, one of the foremost women's tennis championships on the global stage.

While folks converge once again in Doha city, paying homage isn't exclusively for the incredible spirit of competition throughout these matches, but is likewise reserved for the values this tournament represents, in terms of determination and doggedness, as well as the high spirit of sportsmanship demonstrated by those female players who have participated in the successive series of its editions, Al Khelaifi added.

He commended the QTSPBF's TotalEnergies partnership, which transcends the mere organizational framework to encompass forging a long-standing sports legacy that helps strengthen lifestyle patterns, empower emerging generations, and promote Qatar's standing on the global sports stage.

Al Khelaifi extended his thanks and gratitude to all curators, partners, and volunteers who constitute a part and parcel of this event, applauding the female players for opting for Doha as a new milestone in this pathway.

He stressed that their confidence in this tournament is well-founded, as this event always pays tribute to women's standouts on the sports stage. (QNA)
