Qatar Takes Part in 57th Session of Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights
Cairo, February 04 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has participated in the 57th session of the Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights, which kicked off on Wednesday at the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo.
Chairing the State of Qatar's delegation at this session is HE Acting Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sarah Abdullah Al Saadi.
In this two-day session, the committee addresses the follow-up on the recommendations of the previous session, as well as the second and third permanent items on the agenda on developments in the Palestinian issue under the title "Confronting Israeli Violations and Racist Practices in the Occupied Arab Territories", alongside "the Conditions of Arab Prisoners and Detainees in Israeli Prisons, and the Issue of the Bodies of Palestinian and Arab Martyrs Held by Israeli Authorities in Al‑Arqam Cemeteries".
In addition, the agenda includes considering item four, titled "Arab Charter on Human Rights", which outlines a briefing from the Chair of the Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee on the latest developments in the work of the Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee.
The committee will further submit the recommendations from this session to the upcoming 165th Ordinary Session of the Council of the Arab League at the Ministerial Level for further perusal and approval.
The 57th session is convened under the chairmanship of HE Ambassador Talal Khaled Al Mutairi, Chairman of the Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights, with the participation of relevant government agencies in the member states, as well as the relevant entities in the joint Arab action system.
