Doha, February 17 (QNA) - The Katara Cultural Village has announced the opening of nominations for participation in the 5th Katara Prize for Arabic Poetry (Mothers of the Believers), with Sawdah bint Zam'ah, may Allah be pleased with her, as the focus of this edition.

The prize seeks to honor the Prophetic household, particularly the Mothers of the Believers, preserving their legacy for future generations, while presenting a modern poetic corpus that reflects their virtues, historical significance, and exemplary conduct.

It also aims to highlight the influence of the Mothers of the Believers on the course of Islamic da'wah and the formation of women’s roles in society, linking their biographies with poetry and artistic expression, including dramatic texts, and encouraging poets to employ poetic narrative in praising these revered figures.

Submitted poems must be at least 30 lines if composed in classical Kahlili-style verse, while taf'ila poems are accepted under a defined prosodic system. Entries should convey dramatic energy, presenting the life of the chosen Mother of the Believers in a non-traditional, impactful manner, while maintaining the purity of poetic language and rhythmic integrity, and reflecting her life in the Prophetic household, her approach to da'wah, and her exemplary qualities.

The competition is open internationally, beginning on the first day of Ramadan and closing on the 30th of Ramadan. Participants must include a CV, a personal photo, and a copy of their passport or ID, along with the poem in Word and PDF format, without including their name or country. The total prize fund is QR 120,000, distributed among three ranks: first prize: QR 60,000; second prize: QR 40,000; third prize: QR 20,000. (QNA)
