Apple Enables "Stolen Device Protection" by Default in iOS 26.4
Washington, February 17 (QNA) - Apple has announced that it is enabling the "Stolen Device Protection" feature by default for all iPhone users in its newest operating system, iOS 26.4.
The company explained that this move aims to bolster security levels and protect user data in the event of device loss or theft. It achieves this by adding an extra layer of security verification when attempting to access sensitive settings or make fundamental changes to an account.
The feature requires biometric authentication via Face ID or Touch ID to perform several operations, including accessing the Passwords app, disabling "Lost Mode" in the Find My service, and executing certain transactions through the Safari browser.
Apple first introduced the "Stolen Device Protection" feature in 2023, initially giving users the option to enable it manually. However, with the new update, the company has decided to make it active by default.
This update is part of the company's ongoing efforts to enhance privacy and protect the personal information of its device users worldwide. (QNA)
