Houston, June 23 (QNA) - Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Portugal national football team cruised to a 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan national football team on Tuesday in their second Group K match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Houston, US.

Ronaldo opened the scoring in the seventh minute and added his second in the 39th. The other goals came from Nuno Mendes in the 17th minute, an own goal by Uzbekistan's Abdulvahid Nematov in the 60th minute, and Rafael Leao in the 87th minute.

The victory moved Portugal to four points at the top of Group K, while Uzbekistan remained without a point.

With his two goals, Ronaldo became the first player to score in six different World Cup tournaments. He also raised his World Cup tally to 10 goals and continued to extend his remarkable career scoring record.

Portugal delivered a dominant all-around performance, controlling possession, creating numerous chances and displaying a varied attacking approach to secure a convincing win. Uzbekistan will conclude its group-stage campaign against DR Congo national football team, while Portugal will face Colombia national football team next week.

Later Tuesday, Colombia was scheduled to take on DR Congo in the other Group K match. (QNA)
