New York, February 12 (QNA) - The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) affirmed Thursday that 90 percent of school buildings in Gaza have been damaged as a result of the Israeli war on the Strip since Oct. 7, 2023, stressing that it will continue its work come what may, now like then.

In a post on its X account, The UN agency said that its schools that are still standing have been turned into shelters, indicating that children are now being taught by its teams in temporary learning spaces or through digital learning.

UNRWA had announced last November that about 75,000 displaced people in Gaza had taken refuge in more than 100 of its buildings, despite most of those facilities being damaged by Israeli bombing and overcrowded with displaced people.

Since the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza, UNRWA has been facing the biggest humanitarian crisis in its history, as its schools and health centers have been turned into temporary shelters housing hundreds of thousands of displaced people, amid widespread destruction and the collapse of basic services.
