Gaza, February 11 (QNA) - The number of travelers who have crossed Rafah land crossing during Feb. 2-10 reached 275, and 213 have returned to the Gaza Strip, while 26 have returned to the enclave and banned from travel, the Gaza Government Media Office said in a statement on Wednesday.

The statement added that the crossing was completely shuttered during the past Friday and Saturday, noting that 50 individuals traveled on Tuesday, including 19 patients and 31 caregivers, while 41 people returned to Gaza.

The office further noted that the total number of travelers, round trip, during this period reached only 288 individuals, out of 1,800 expected to travel through the Rafah crossing, representing a compliance rate of almost 27 percent.

The Gaza Center for Human Rights recently condemned the travel procedures implemented by the Israeli authorities at the Rafah land crossing, describing them as serious and egregious violations of freedom of movement and fundamental rights of civilians in the Gaza Strip, and called for urgent spring into action to lift these restrictions.

The Center further railed at the strict Israeli restrictions that accompanied the first day of travel through the Rafah crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, which, according to the Center, reflected full Israeli control over the process, in blatant violation of freedom of movement and fundamental rights of the civilian population in Gaza.
