Arab League Stresses Need to End Occupation, Establish Palestinian State
Cairo, November 02 (QNA) - The General Secretariat of the Arab League has reaffirmed the necessity of ending the illegal Israeli occupation and establishing an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the principles of international law, relevant international legitimacy resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.
In a statement marking the 109th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration issued on Nov. 2, 1917, the General Secretariat explained that the declaration constituted a pivotal turning point in the historical trajectory that led to the Nakba of the Palestinian people, their displacement, the denial of their legitimate national rights, and the ongoing violations committed against them to this day.
The General Secretariat saluted the sacrifices, steadfastness, and resilience of the Palestinian people in holding onto their land and their inalienable legitimate rights, foremost among them the right to self-determination, the termination of the illegal Israeli occupation, and the establishment of their independent, sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Furthermore, the Arab League renewed its call on Britain and the international community to intensify pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities to halt their violations and crimes against the Palestinian people, and to push forward the implementation of the two-state solution to realize an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
