Tokyo, October 06 (QNA) - Japan’s Nikkei index rose on Tuesday, buoyed by overnight gains on Wall Street and a decline in crude oil prices.
Japanese stocks accelerated their gains in the afternoon session after strong demand for the closely watched 10-year Japanese government bond eased concerns regarding the debt market.
The Nikkei advanced 1.1% to end the morning session at 70,683.98, while the broader Topix climbed 0.9% to 4,183.56.
Among the Nikkei’s 225 components, 165 rose and 55 fell, with three trading flat.
Overnight, all three of the main US indexes rose, with the tech-focused Nasdaq Composite hitting a record high amid a rally in tech heavyweights including Nvidia.
Japanese tech shares were more of a mixed bag, with chip-equipment maker Advantest gaining 3.9%, and optical fiber cable maker Fujikura jumping 5.2%, while AI-focused startup investor SoftBank Group lost 3.1%, making it the index's worst performer. (QNA)
