Amman, October 03 (QNA) - The 25th Amman International Book Fair wrapped up Saturday evening, drawing more than 400,000 visitors.

Organized by the Union of Jordanian Publishers in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, the Greater Amman Municipality and the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, the fair was held under the theme "Jordan: Land and People."

Qatar participated in the fair through its Ministry of Culture and several Qatari publishing houses, continuing its ongoing presence at Arab cultural events and exhibitions. The Qatari delegation provided an opportunity to strengthen cultural exchange between the two countries while allowing Jordanian readers to become acquainted with Qatari publications and cultural initiatives.

The Jordanian Ministry of Culture noted that this silver jubilee edition marked a significant milestone in the fair's trajectory. Over 25 years, the event has evolved into an annual cultural and intellectual gathering and a platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange, while also contributing to the vitality of cultural and economic activity in the book industry.

Jordan's minister of culture, Mustafa Al Rawashdeh, emphasized that the fair has become a cornerstone of the cultural landscape and publishing industry, serving as a platform for preserving heritage and documenting the Jordanian narrative while keeping pace with technological transformation and diverse sources of knowledge—efforts that contribute to advancing the book industry and expanding the readership.

Syria served as the guest of honor for this edition, which featured broad participation from over 400 publishing houses and institutions—local, Arab, and international—from 23 countries, along with authors, creators, researchers, and academics.

The cultural program included approximately 65 events, featuring nearly 220 creative professionals, authors, intellectuals, and researchers. The fair also gave special attention to children and young adults. (QNA)
