Istanbul, October 31 (QNA) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday that Turkiye is prepared to make every possible effort to help create conditions for peace between Russia and Ukraine.
Erdogan made the remarks at a joint news conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after their meeting in Istanbul.
He said the two leaders had discussed in detail recent intensified efforts to secure peace in Ukraine, as well as the security situation in the Black Sea.
Erdogan warned that attacks on civilian vessels and actions that heighten tensions in the Black Sea would serve no one's interests.
He reiterated Turkiye's readiness to do everything possible to advance efforts toward a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had also discussed with Erdogan the planned trilateral negotiations involving US, Ukrainian and Russian peace negotiators.
The talks are expected to take place in early November, Zelensky said, adding that Kyiv wants Europe and potentially Turkiye to participate in discussions on ending the war, which has entered its fifth year.
Zelensky also said the two leaders had agreed that Turkiye would step up its support for Ukraine's energy sector amid intensifying Russian attacks. (QNA)
