Egypt's African Forum Explores Boosting Intra-African Trade, Tackling Economic and Development Issues
Cairo, October 03 (QNA) - The inaugural Alamein-Africa Business Forum kicked off in New Alamein City, Egypt, on Saturday.
The forum is attended by several African heads of state, senior officials from across the continent, as well as heads and directors of international and regional financial institutions and private-sector leaders from Africa and around the world.
The event broadly aims to strengthen communication and African intergovernmental partnerships, bringing together representatives of the private sector and entrepreneurs from inside Africa and beyond, in pursuit of accelerating the objectives of the African Union's (AU) Agenda 2063, as well as promoting intra-African trade.
It likewise intends to enhance economic integration among African nations, mobilize the partnerships required to implement development projects, expand financing and investment opportunities, support emerging economic sectors, and discuss priority economic and development issues across Africa.
In his keynote address before the forum, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi said the organization of this inaugural edition conforms with the AU's decision issued during its recent summit in February 2026, in collaboration with the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), and the AU.
The goal is to have a strategic continental platform in place to galvanize efforts toward achieving Africa's Agenda 2063 and turn the ambitions of joint African action into concrete reality, El-Sisi added.
El-Sisi further explained that the forum provides a space for the African business sector to interact with heads of state and discuss the challenges facing the private sector, in addition to forging transnational partnerships, thereby helping make a giant leap forward in economic integration and realize the continental development objectives.
In essence, this convention comes on the eve of the 8th mid-year coordination meeting of the AU, with broad participation from heads of state, ministers and senior officials, heads of regional economic communities and regional mechanisms, heads of AU organs, as well as development partners. (QNA)
