Asian Games: South Korea Beats Japan to Claim Football Gold Medal
Nagoya, Japan, October 03 (QNA) - South Korea won the men's football gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games after beating Japan 1-0 in the final at Toyota Stadium in front of 30,000 fans.
Eom Ji-sung scored the only goal of the match in the 60th minute, leading South Korea to a historic fourth consecutive Asian Games gold medal in men's football.
Japan had hoped to win the gold medal for the first time since 2010 under coach Go Oiwa, who is set to take charge of the senior national team after next year's Asian Cup.
The Asian Games football tournament featured under-23 national teams, with each team allowed to include three over-age players. (QNA)
