Doha, October 20 (QNA) - Four Filipino players, Raymond Faraon, Mark Estiola, Marlon Caneda and Rocky Tullao, qualified for Stage 2 of the 10-Ball World Cup, hosted by the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation until October 29.
Qatar's Nasser Al Saadi secured a 7-3 victory over Kuwait's Fahad Al Tuwaitan, recording Qatar's first win in Stage 1. Several other Qatari players were eliminated.
On the sidelines, the Qatar Billiard Sports Federation launched the Qatar Billiards Academy to develop players' skills and encourage young people to take up the sport.
The Federation's Executive Director Mubarak Al Khayarin said the academy would welcome participants from Qatar and abroad. The initiative was proposed by Qatar national team coach Mansour Al Khanfari to capitalise on the presence of international and regional champions in Doha. (QNA)
