Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Events to Kick off at Paris' Saint-Cloud
Paris, October 01 (QNA) - The Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe meeting gets under way on Friday at Paris's Saint-Cloud racecourse, with the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club sponsoring the event, which runs through October 5.
The opening day will feature a pair of premier Group 1 PA features for three-year-old Purebred Arabians over 2,000 meters: the the Gr.1 PA Qatar Arabian Trophy des Poulains for colts and the Gr.1 PA Qatar Arabian Trophy des Pouliches for fillies.
The races are expected to provide an early indication of the leading three-year-old Arabian horses in Europe, with nine colts entered for the stallions' race and 13 fillies set to compete in the fillies' event.
The meeting follows Thursday's Arqana Arabian Horse Sale at Saint-Cloud, which attracted international interest alongside representatives of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club.
A total of 78 horses were listed in the catalog, including 56 two-year-olds, six yearlings and 16 racehorses. The latter group included five wildcard entries and 11 horses from breeding programs.
The sale recorded strong demand across the different categories, with organizers reporting a high overall sales rate and increased activity in the Arabian horse market.
The Arqana sale is held alongside Qatar's long-running sponsorship of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe meeting. The partnership reflects the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club's continued support for Arabian horse racing internationally.
Arabian races have become an established part of the wider Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe program, providing a prominent platform for purebred Arabian racing in Europe. (QNA)
