Doha, November 04 (QNA) - More than 2,200 runners from different nationalities and age groups took part in the inaugural PSG QNB WE RUN DOHA race, held at Lusail International Circuit, highlighting the growing popularity of community sports in Qatar.

A total of 2,243 participants joined the event, organized by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as the official event partner, in collaboration with Qatar National Bank (QNB) and the Qatar Sports for All Federation, under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth.

Qatari nationals accounted for around 58% of the total participants, reflecting growing interest among citizens in running and community sporting activities. The Filipino, Indian, British and French communities were also among the most represented nationalities.

The event was attended by several senior officials and dignitaries, including HE Qatar Tourism Chairman Saad Al Kharji, HE PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi and Qatar Sports for All Federation Executive Director Abdullah Al Dosari.

Other attendees included QNB Group Chief Business Officer Yousuf Al Neama, Lusail International Circuit Chairman Abdulrahman Al Mannai and PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe.

Al Dosari described the inaugural race as a success, praising the strong turnout and the diversity of participants in terms of age and nationality.

He said the event marked a valuable addition to Qatar's community sports calendar and demonstrated the benefits of cooperation with PSG in delivering a sporting experience that combines international appeal with local participation.

He also highlighted the contribution of the different partners in ensuring the event's success, adding that the strong Qatari turnout reflected increasing public enthusiasm for running and community-based sporting events.

The race forms part of broader efforts to encourage an active lifestyle and expand opportunities for people of different ages and backgrounds to participate in sport across Qatar. (QNA)
