Syria: Civilian Death Toll in Aleppo Rises to 10
Damascus, January 08 (QNA) - The death toll among civilians in the Syrian city of Aleppo rose to 10 on Thursday, with 52 others injured, following shelling by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) targeting residential neighborhoods in the northern city.
Meanwhile, Aleppo Central Response Committee reported receiving more than 142,000 displaced persons and opening temporary shelters, while efforts continue to evacuate patients and those trapped in conflict areas.
Clashes continued in Aleppo this afternoon, with the Syrian army making advances along one of the battlefronts in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafiya neighborhoods in the northern part of the city, amid heavy shelling by SDF forces across other areas.
Civil defense teams and internal security forces continued evacuating civilians from Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafiya. The Syrian Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management reported that a paramedic was injured when an ambulance, clearly marked with humanitarian insignia, was targeted near one of the evacuation points, describing the attack as a serious violation of international humanitarian law.
Earlier, the Syrian army issued a warning to residents of specific areas in Sheikh Maqsoud to evacuate immediately after the neighborhoods were used by SDF forces as military positions from which they shelled other parts of the city. (QNA)
