Doha, January 07 (QNA) - Al Arabi secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Al Wakrah in the 12th round of the Qatar Stars League at Saud bin Abdulrahman Stadium.

Rodrigo Sanchez scored the decisive goal late in the first half, finding the net in the 39th minute after a well-worked move involving Michael Olunga. The match was largely cautious in its opening stages, with limited chances for both sides before Al Arabi broke the deadlock.

Al Wakrah had an early penalty decision overturned following a VAR review, and despite increasing pressure in the second half, they were unable to find an equaliser. Goalkeeper Jasem Al Hail played a key role for Al Arabi, producing a fine save to deny Ayoub Assal in a one-on-one situation.

Al Arabi also threatened on the counter, with both teams missing chances in an open second half, but the scoreline remained unchanged.

The win lifted Al Arabi to 20 points in fifth place, level on points with fourth-placed Al Sadd on goal difference, pending the completion of the round. Al Wakrah remained seventh on 16 points. (QNA)
