Lebanese Prime Minister Stresses Need to Halt Israeli Violations of His Country's Sovereignty
Paris, January 23 (QNA) - Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stressed today the need to halt Israeli violations of his country's sovereignty and for Israel to withdraw from all the territories it still occupies.
During a meeting in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron, Salam also emphasized the need to find an alternative to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) after the end of its mandate.
The two sides also discussed key issues of mutual interest, particularly preparations for the conference to support the Lebanese army and security forces, scheduled to be held in Paris on March 5, and ways to ensure its success.
In this context, the French President expressed his support for the reform measures undertaken by the Lebanese government, stressing the importance of passing the fiscal deficit law after its discussion in the relevant parliamentary committees. This would pave the way for an agreement with the International Monetary Fund and the convening of a conference in Paris to support Lebanon's recovery and reconstruction. (QNA)
