Doha, January 19 (QNA) - The 7th Souq Waqif Equestrian Festival 2026, organized by the Celebrations Committee of the Private Engineering Office (PEO), will begin on Tuesday amid record participation by horse owners from home and abroad.

The committee asserted that all preparations have been finalized for the launch of the festival, whose events will begin tomorrow at Souq Waqif's western square, noting that the event will run until January 27.

The festival, which had its inaugural edition launched in 2018, invariably garners a record public turnout, with the committee dedicating rewarding financial accolades this year to winners of top ranks in various contests.

The agenda comprises a wide diversity of events, beginning throughout the first three days with the 7th Souq Waqif International Championship for Purebred Arabian Horses (Category A).

On January 23, 2026, traditional heritage events and competitions for young riders will be held, followed by the 15th Qatar International Championship for Purebred Arabian Peninsula Horses (Category S- Beauty Class), scheduled to run from January 24 to 26.

The festival will wind up on January 27 by holding an auction for purebred Arabian horses as a final event, where amateur horse riders and specialists converge.

The organizing committee of the Souq Waqif Equestrian Festival has been committed to holding this event annually in support of horse owners and to reviving this heritage, which is closely connected with Qatari society. (QNA)
