4.0-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes La Tirana Island in Chile
Santiago, January 19 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 4.0 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Monday southeast of La Tirana Island in Chile.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 115.4 km, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
In January 2021, two strong earthquakes struck Chile's coast within minutes of each other, measuring 7.1 and 5.6 in magnitude. Chile lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, a seismically active zone prone to frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity. (QNA)
