Al Rayyan Defeat Al Shamal, Strengthen Lead in Qatari Basketball League

Doha, January 15 (QNA) - Al Rayyan defeated Al Shamal 92-83 in their match on Thursday at Al Gharafa Hall, as part of the 14th round of the second division of the 2025-2026 Qatari Basketball League.

Al Rayyan strengthened their lead in the league standings, raising their points tally to 27 from 14 matches, three points ahead of Al Arabi in second place, which played only 13 matches. Al Shamal's points total rose to 19, placing it in sixth position.

The scores for the four quarters were 33-16, 17-16, 22-21, and 20-30, all in favor of Al Rayyan.

Roland Freemanis of Al Rayyan was named the game's top scorer with 31 points, while Troy Leonard of Al Shamal led his team with 25 points.

Tyler James Lee Harris of Al Rayyan was awarded the MVP award for his outstanding performance throughout the match.

The 14th round of matches continues on Saturday at the Al Gharafa Hall, with Al Arabi facing Al Khor at 6:00 PM and Al Sadd taking on Al Ahli at 8:00 PM. (QNA)
