Gaza Death Toll Rises to More Than 71,000, Health Ministry Says
Gaza, January 12 (QNA) - The death toll from Israeli occupation's military offensive on the Gaza Strip has risen to 71,419, with at least 171,318 people injured since Oct. 7, 2023, according to Gaza's Ministry of Health.
In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry said hospitals across the territory had received the bodies of seven people over the past 24 hours, five of whom were recovered from beneath rubble. Four injured people were also admitted for treatment.
The ministry added that a number of victims remain trapped under collapsed buildings or lying in streets, with ambulance and rescue teams unable to reach them so far.
It said that since a ceasefire came into effect in October, the number of people killed has risen to 442, with 1,240 others injured. During the same period, 697 bodies were recovered.
The ministry also reported the deaths of a seven-day-old baby and a four-year-old child due to severe cold, bringing the number of child deaths linked to cold weather since the start of winter to six. (QNA)
