Environment Minister Honors Project Owners Engaged in Breeding Houbara Bustard at S'hail 2025
Doha, September 14 (QNA) - HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, toured the 9th Katara International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition "S'hail 2025", organized by the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara in Doha until Sept. 14.
His Excellency honored a host of private project owners engaged in the breeding the houbara bustard, in recognition of their role in supporting national efforts to preserve biodiversity and protect the bird from the risk of extinction.
HE Al Subaie was briefed on the key showcased items and innovations in the areas of falconry and hunting. He also toured the ministry's two pavilions at the exhibition and received explanations about the online services the ministry offers to reinforce digital transformation in the environmental sector, along with the Office for State Protected Areas in conserving wildlife and protecting the houbara bustard, alongside a live display of several birds, taxidermy specimens, and an interactive map of the bird's breeding centers.
The Ministry's participation this year debuted in a new format that reflects its evolving orientation toward promoting environmental awareness and a culture of sustainability. The Natural Reserves Department's pavilion highlights outstanding initiatives, including online services associated with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), as part of the national campaign to control the Myna bird, said the Director of the Public Relations and Communications Department at the Ministry, Farhoud Hadi Al Hajri.
He added that the pavilion of the Office for State Protected Areas showcases Qatar's efforts to breed the houbara bustard through specialized centers both at home and abroad, alongside educational exhibits such as taxidermy specimens, live bird displays, and an interactive 3D map of current and planned breeding centers.
Al Hajri evinced that throughout this participation, the ministry debuted the Promising Falconer Passport with the objective of promoting environmental awareness among young people and further engaging them with the cultural and heritage legacy associated with the hobby of hunting with falcons.
