Ramallah, July 20 (QNA) - The Israeli occupation forces burned Sunday several homes in the Nur Shams camp, east of Tulkarm.

The Palestine News and Information Agency (WAFA) said that the occupation forces burned a number of homes in the Manshiyya neighborhood of the camp, amid a tight siege and ongoing aggression for the 162nd consecutive day.

WAFA added that infantry squads, which have been using Palestinian homes as military barracks after forcing residents to evacuate, are firing live ammunition at anyone who attempts to approach the camp.

In recent weeks, the Nur Shams camp has been subjected to extensive demolition operations that have affected dozens of residential buildings, as part of an Israeli plan to demolish 106 buildings in Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps.

In a related context, Israeli bulldozers continued their demolition operations in Tulkarm camp, which began last week, at a rapid pace, targeting more residential buildings. This escalation in Tulkarm camp, which is entering its 175th consecutive day, comes as part of the occupation's new plan to demolish 104 buildings containing approximately 400 homes, leaving thousands of families without their homes.

The ongoing escalation of the occupation has led to the forced displacement of more than 5,000 families from the Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps, representing more than 25,000 Palestinians. The total destruction of more than 600 buildings and the partial damage of 2,573 homes have also occurred. The entrances to the camps remain closed with barriers, transforming them into lifeless areas. Residents are prevented from reaching their homes or checking on their property, amid direct gunfire targeting anyone who approaches the area. (QNA)
