Doha, March 17 (QNA) - Qatar Foundation-affiliate, QatarDebate Center, announced its support for the SyriaDebate initiative, as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the youth and promoting a culture of dialogue.

The SyriaDebate initiative aims to promote a culture of debate within Syrian society and equip the youth with critical thinking and effective communication skills.

This announcement followed the wrap-up of an intensive training program introducing the art of debate, organized remotely by the QatarDebate Center, with the participation of over 350 young men and women from across Syria.

The program focused on providing participants with the fundamentals of debate, constructing and refuting arguments, and the roles of speakers, according to the QatarDebate Center training curricula.

The Center said that this initiative is part of a comprehensive vision aimed at enhancing debate in Syria through holding a series of future programs, including arbitration academies, national championships, and specialized training programs, which will contribute to honing the skills of the youth and increasing their debating competitiveness.

It was also announced that the Syria school debate championship in Arabic will be organized during the second week of April, in partnership with the QatarDebate Center, in preparation for the 7th International Schools Debating Championship end of June. (QNA)
