Doha, November 07 (QNA) - President of the Lebanese Olympic Committee and President of the Lebanese Shooting and Hunting Federation Dr. Boutros Jalkh lauded the State of Qatar's phenomenal organization of the World Shooting Championship, which serves as a qualifying event for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games and is currently underway at Lusail Shooting Complex through Nov. 13.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Jalkh emphasized that he was intrigued by the high coaching standards and competitive levels on display across the tournament's various events, confirming that Qatar's hosting of this global event, with its incredible magnitude and vast number of athletes from around the globe, represents an extraordinary organizational and logistical challenge that truly precipitates commendation.
He thanked the organizing committee for the gargantuan efforts it has made to ensure that the tournament presents an honored image that is as premium and superb as its international stature.
The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) has conducted a flurry of amendments, introduced stringent laws and elevated the technical requirements of these contests, Dr. Jalkh pointed out, adding that this move didn't preclude the participating champions from demonstrating extraordinary adaptation capabilities to get past these challenges and showcase top-flight levels that made the competitions abound with suspense, highlighting the incredible evolution of this kind of sport on the world stage.
Dr. Jalkh also commended the active Arab presence at this prestigious sporting event, stressing that the high standards demonstrated by Arab shooters are a source of immense pride, despite the fierce competition, its demanding nature and the format of events in which only three competitors can secure places on the podium.
He also lauded the substantial support and continued backing that the State of Qatar provides for Lebanese shooting sport, expressing his profound gratitude for this productive cooperation, which stands as a testament to the depth of sporting relations between the two nations and makes a tremendous contribution to supporting the sport's advancement and development in Lebanon.
Regarding China's remarkable dominance and the pre-eminent presence of Chinese shooters on the podium, Dr. Jalkh explained that this stems from a combined system built on substantial resources, meticulously devised scientific planning, athletes' full-time commitment to their sport, and the powerful government support enjoyed by shooting sport in China.
Providing such a professional environment poses a challenge for several Arab countries, given the difficulties associated with securing athletes' full-time commitment to their sport and the resources required to prepare champions, Dr. Jalkh continued.
Nevertheless, he underscored the paramount importance of pressing ahead with efforts, investing in the sport and refusing to capitulate in the face of these challenges. He emphasized that increased budgets and stronger institutional support for shooting sport would make a tremendous contribution to elevating the Arab standard, enabling shooters to contend vigorously on the international stage.
Dr. Jalkh also wished all Arab shooters Godspeed in continuing to deliver incredible performances through the conclusion of the championship. (QNA)
