1st Edition of Ramadan Kabaddi Fest 2025 Concludes in Doha
Doha, March 17 (QNA) - The first edition of Ramadan Kabaddi Fest 2025 was concluded at Al Rayyan Public Park.
The tournament brought together 144 players representing 8 teams for men, divided into two groups, with Group A comprising Al Fursan, Al Majd, Al Atba'a, and Al Rayan, while Group B consisted of Al Dhiab, Al Nujoom, Al Suqoor, and Al Fuhud.
The Al Nujoom team clinched the title of champion in this festival for men, with the Al Suqoor team finishing as the runner-up, while the Al Rayan team placed third.
In the U-18 category, the Indian Islamic School team clinched the championship trophy after defeating the Bangladesh Mashhor-ul-Haque Memorial High School team with a score of 32-25, while the Noble International School team placed third.
HE President of Kabaddi Asia Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al-Thani expressed his profound delight for the atmosphere of the closing festival, affirming that the event featured outstanding performances, thereby demonstrating the great advancement of Kabaddi in the region.
There is a strong aspiration for constantly building on this milestone, as efforts continue to make Gulf Kabaddi a new platform to support the proliferation of this sport in the Arab region, His Excellency highlighted.
He pointed out that numerous tournaments will be hosted throughout the coming period, emphasizing that there is a powerful desire to annually hold the Ramadan Kabaddi.
His Excellency extended his gratitude to HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani for supporting Qatari sports, emphasizing that this support has had a significant impact on the success of this event.
Director of the Festival, Ali Taleb Al Merri, affirmed that the tournament featured superb competition among all teams.
He hailed the efforts made by all teams, confirming that the organizing committee has been committed to attracting large crowds in Qatar and offering the chance for talents to engage and demonstrate their skills and finesse.
For his part, HE President of the International Kabaddi Federation, Dr. Osama Saeed Hashim, lauded the significant success of this festival in Doha.
He revealed that a meeting was held with the President of the Asian Kabaddi Federation to shore up cooperation between both sides.
Hashim highlighted that the federation is considering launching numerous tournaments in Doha, including the international Beach Kabaddi competition, in addition to establishing a regional, international, and Asian hub for Kabaddi in Doha. (QNA)
