Ukrainian President Appoints New Chief of General Staff
Kyiv, March 16 (QNA) - Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, issued a decree appointing Major General Andrii Hnatov as the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Published on the Ukrainian presidency's website Sunday, the decree stated that Hnatov will replace Lieutenant General Anatolii Barhylevych.
In a statement, Ukrainian Defense Minister, Rustem Umerov, said that changes are being made to the command structure and new standards in the Armed Forces of Ukraine are being introduced to strengthen the army's combat capabilities.
The Minister added that the former Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Barhylevych, will now ensure compliance with military standards and strengthen discipline within the armed forces. (QNA)
