Japan Lifts Tsunami Warnings as Quake Injuries Rise to 30
Tokyo, December 9 (QNA) - Japanese authorities lifted all tsunami warnings on Tuesday, hours after a powerful 7.5-magnitude earthquake struck off the country's northeastern coast, injuring at least 30 people and forcing about 90,000 residents to evacuate their homes.
The earthquake struck offshore on Monday, prompting the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) to issue tsunami warnings, saying waves of up to three metres could hit parts of the northeastern coastline.
By early Tuesday, the JMA downgraded the warnings to advisories before later lifting all advisories.
Authorities said there were no reports of major damage as of Tuesday. (QNA)
