Katara to Opens Qatar International Arts Festival, Arabic Opera Events Next Week
Doha, December 5 (QNA) - The Katara Cultural Village Foundation will host an exceptional cultural season this December, combining three main tracks: visual arts, Arabic opera, and heritage events coinciding with the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, in a celebration of creativity, identity, and heritage.
Next Sunday, Katara will inaugurate the seventh edition of the Qatar International Arts Festival (QIAF), which will run from December 7 to 12, under the theme "Sustainability and Innovation in Art," in collaboration with Maps International.
The festival offers a global creative platform attracting more than 450 artists from 70 countries. Their participation will range from interactive workshops and live performances to international art exhibitions, cultural evenings, an art conference, an art fashion show, and an art auction. The festival will conclude with an awards ceremony.
On another note, Katara will launch its Arab Opera Festival next Monday, bringing together Arab artists, musicians, and opera houses for a series of artistic and training activities.
The festival will begin with an official opening ceremony that will include a tribute to the Egyptian composer Omar Khairat, followed by a performance by the Cairo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Ahmed Atef.
The festival will also feature workshops in opera and scenography, the unveiling of a model of "Katara: City of Arab Opera," and the launch of the online platform for Arab opera houses.
It will also host the second meeting of supervisors of Arab opera houses, and the activities will conclude with a joint musical performance by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra and the Cairo Symphony Orchestra.
Meanwhile, the 15th Katara Traditional Dhow Festival continues to welcome visitors amidst a maritime atmosphere celebrating Qatari heritage. The festival offers a rich experience combining traditional crafts, woodwork, and maritime artifacts.
The traditional food corner, featuring products from local Qatari families, is a highlight of the 15th Katara Traditional Dhow Festival, attracting a large number of locals and Arab visitors.
In keeping with the festive atmosphere in Qatar as it hosts the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, Katara has prepared a diverse program of public events offering a comprehensive cultural and entertainment experience for visitors.
These events include daily artistic performances, children's entertainment, open-air art exhibitions, and musical performances welcoming fans from across the Arab world. (QNA)
