Doha, December 22 (QNA) - Al Gharafa revived their hopes of qualifying for the Round of 16 of the AFC Champions League Elite after a 1-0 victory over UAE's Al Wahda in their match at Thani bin Jassim Stadium on Monday.

Seydou Sano scored the only goal of the game for Al Gharafa in the 87th minute, bringing their points tally to six and placing them ninth in the standings while Al Wahda remained on 13 in third place.

Al Wahda started the match strongly, dominating possession and creating early chances but failing to find the net. Al Gharafa, meanwhile, were defensively well organized and relied on counterattacks, coming close to taking the lead before halftime with a shot that struck the crossbar. The first half ended goalless.

The game opened up after the break. Al Gharafa were reduced to 10 men, and they kept pressing and were rewarded late on with a decisive goal, sealing a 1-0 win. (QNA)
